This is a guide to getting started in Empire by Good Games Studio.
As soon as you get through the startup quests and have enough room your going to want 4 farms 4 woodcutters and 4 stonemasons to start. Following the quests is fine but I believe there is a better strategy to grow. You want to keep these upgraded as high as the game will allow. Upgrade your towers as you increase your space to the highest level allowed. By upgrading everything as you can you will complete quests without thinking about it and more upgrades will open up. Grow slow and you will grow strong.
Wait on building and save gems when possible for other things like exclusive offers, bakery, military hospital upgrades, etc. Patience is key in this game in the long run unless you happen to be made of money. Gem buyers are how the game makes a profit, but the players who don't buy gems are assets. We create competition and interaction which attracts people that will buy gems.
When not setting things to build attack robber barons, and or whatever NPC is available. I.E.: nomads, samuri, foreign castles, etc. This helps with resources and equipment to make your commanders stronger. Can also keep your troops from starving. Also note the game will try to get you to have more and more soldiers which will be out of control till the higher levels when you can get more outposts.
Do your daily tasks every day if possible. For the first 30 days I think it is you get 250 gems and lots of time skips and equipment. Also do mercenary missions as often as possible and these will give soldiers, tools and resources, some of which are free at first.
Also there is a chat window in the bottom right corner of your screen. The other players in your alliance are friendly and helpful and want to know you as a person. The more we hear from you the more we can help each other grow together. If you made it to this forum you probably are already participating in chat regularly but if not take some time and speak up.
This is kind of a brief overview. More detailed tips will follow.
